경기전은 천년의 역사를 가진 도시로는 찾아보기 드믄 도심 녹지공간으로 전주를 대표하는 역사적인 명소의 하나이다. 바로 길을 건너면 유서 깊은 전동 성당이 자리하고 있고, 남쪽으로 100m 거리에 전주부성의 남문이었던 풍남문이, 서쪽으로 5분 거리에 전북예술회관과 전주객사가 있어 전주 관광의 상징이면서 중심이 되는 장소이다.
전주 토박이들에게 경기전은 어린 시절 뛰어 놀던 놀이터였고 학창시절엔 이젤과 함께 그늘에 앉아 그림을 그렸던 곳으로 숱한 이야기들이 담긴 추억의 공간이다. 최근 전주 한옥마을이 정비되어 마을의 분위기가 이곳 경기전과 이어지면서 더욱 자주 찾게 되고 또 외부에서 손님이 오면 가장 먼저 안내하는 아름다운 곳이다.
Gyeonggijeon is a rare green park which cannot be easily found in the center of a city that has over one thousand years of history and is also one of the representative destinations of Jeonju. Across fron it, you can find the historic Jeondong Cathedral, Pungnammun which was the south gate of the Jeonju Wall, and to the west, it takes only a five-minute walk to find the Jeonbuk Arts Center and Jeonju Gaeksa (now it is called Pungpaejigwan). All of this makes Gyeonggijeon both the symbol the center of Jeonju tour.
To the natives of Jeonju, it was a playground for them as children and a memory-stirring place where they were painting with easels under the trees as high school students. Recently as Hanok Village was improved, Gyeonggijeon is linked closely to the atmosphere of the village, and it has been visited more often and became the first place to which guests from outside of Jeonju are guided. |
